Kanchenjunga, 8586m, is the third highest mountain in the world and is one of the most beautiful mountain massifs of the Himalaya. Kanchenjunga means the five treasure houses of snow, which gives you some idea of what to anticipate when you visit this area. Kanchenjunga straddles the border with Sikkim in the remote north east region of Nepal not far from Tibet. Trekking into this exceptionally beautiful wilderness requires a considerable degree of fitness.
Few trekkers bother to reach this less accessible region. So, there is a little to distract you as you observe the rich culture of rural life in Nepal. Outdoor enthusiasts will be well rewarded with cascading waterfalls, thousands of species of plants, animals and birds found in the lush jungles, rhododendron, chestnut and oak forests.
