Gosainkunda Lake is a divine alpine freshwater lake nestled in the Langtang region of Nepal and it is considered as one of the most important spiritual destinations for both Buddhists and Hindus devotees. Trek to Gosainkunda Lake can be classified as a short, scenic, beautiful, doable and spiritual trekking destination nearby Kathmandu valley. We start our journey to Gosainkunda Lake from Dhunche, the administrative capital of Rasuwa district. Following the trail, we continue to the significant Sing Gompa and the next day to Gosainkunda Lake, the major attraction of this trek. At Gosainkunda (4380m), group of lakes and surrounding peaks make the place awe – inspiring. From here, we witness the scenic outlooks of the Ganesh Himal range, Manaslu range, Langtang Lirung as well as the 3 sacred lakes of Gosainkunda, Saraswati Kunda and Bhairab Kunda. On our way back to Kathmandu, we traverse Ghopte, Kutumsang to Chisapani and hike down to Sundarijal where a private vehicle will be waiting for and drive us to Kathmandu valley. This trek is best suited for those who have a strong interest for nature walking, civilization, values of a people, religious and spiritual beliefs. Also, for all those enthusiast travelers who prefer to trek at lower elevation but still want to cherish the beauty of Himalaya, this is the ideal choice.
Although this trek can be done throughout the year, spring (March – May) is regarded as the best season to visit this wonderful place and witness its beauty exclusively. During spring, the trail secured with varieties of exhilarated wildflowers and the woods are multi-shaded with dazzling rhododendrons, magnolia and several other botanical collections. Autumn season (September- November) is also great time to do this trek in Nepal.
